OUR CAPABILITIES:

GENETICALLY MODIFIED ANIMALS Using multiple genetic manipulation technologies, including proprietary mobile DNA piggyBacTM technology and spermatogonial stem cells (SSCs), Transposagen is able to create sophisticated genetic modifications in many model organisms, with a specialization in rat models. Available rat models include TKO™ Knockout Rat Models with a single gene trap insertion created using mobile DNA technology, and TGEM® Rat Models which are created using other technologies. Transposagen also produces custom genetically modified rat models, including knockout, knock-in, humanized, conditional, transgenic, and inducible rats.

WHY FOCUS ON RATS?

• -The rat is a considered an excellent animal model for many human diseases, including human cardiovascular disease, diabetes, arthritis, and many autoimmune, neurological, behavioral disorders.
• -Rats are better than mice at modeling human physiology and better at modeling many human cancers..
• -Rats have been used for over a century for toxicology studies and are the predominant tox model.
• -The large size of the rat facilitates instrumentation, blood sampling, and surgery.

CELL LINE PRODUCTION AND STEM CELLS
piggyBacTM is a highly versatile technology that is used for genetic engineering in almost eukaryotic cell, allowing for both mutagenesis and transgenesis, and is a core technology used by Transposagen to create a large variety of TKO™ Knockout Rat Models.
