piggyBac Licenses

piggyBac is a highly versatile technology that is used for genetic engineering in almost any animal, allowing for both mutagenesis and transgenesis and is a core technology used by Transposagen to create a large variety of TKO™ Knockout Rat Models.

piggyBac has other applications including reprogramming cells to induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells. These non-embryonic stem cells share most of the therapeutic promise of embryonic stem cells, without having the ethical dilemmas.

piggyBac can also be used for cell therapy, gene therapy, for stable expression of markers, genes, or RNAi in cell lines, and is currently being tested for genetic modification in plants and crops.
